Gradient Visualization

This animation visualizes the mathematical surface $f(x,y)=x^2+2y^2$ using topographic curves and a spinning probe that demonstrates how the gradient points in the direction of steepest ascent. It further illustrates the gradient field and a descent path leading toward the origin to explain the relationship between the slope, the gradient vector, and the level sets.
